Climate Change is Caused by 4% of the Ozone Layer Being Gone!

Have you noticed how weird the weather has been lately? Some days it's super warm and the next you're a human icicle? This is because of climate change, which is caused by the ozone layer, which keeps certain temperatures out of our atmosphere, being ripped. Since it's ripped, we get extra hot air from the sun and extra cold air from space.  We need to fix the rip so that climate change stops. It's melting all the ice in the arctic, leaving polar bears and penguins stranded on icebergs that melted off of glaciers. It's making it snow in Mexico, even though it hasn't snowed in Mexico City since 1967!  Since the glaciers and icebergs are all melting, the tsunami and flood rates are soaring. The tides are rising and big glaciers melting off a different part could create a big enough wave to destroy a city.  These things are not okay. We need to fix them as soon as possible, meaning we need to fix the ozone layer. If we stop polluting the air, the ozone layer will r...

30% of Extinction is Due to Invasive Species!

Do you know about invasive species? Even if you do, you should read this blog post.  Invasive species are species that were brought to one place by humans, but they do NOT fit in. Never bring a species of animal to a place that's never had them before. It can cause mass destruction. They steal resources from native species and don't give anything back to the environment, for example food or a good background for photos. By stealing all the resources, they kill native species because there is then no more resources for them.  On a 15 minute walk with my class last winter, only around my school, I saw thousands if not millions of European Buckthorn! It is an invasive species in the area where I live. European Buckthorn produces berries that are toxic to humans, but I'm not going to go into the side effects here. Search it up if you would like to. And European Buckthorn grows in such tight thickets that, inside one of the thickets on my walk, I saw a few dead trees. The Europe...

1% of Accessible Water is Clean!

If 70% of the Earth is water, how is only 2.5% fresh and drinkable? And only 1% of that clean water is even accessible due to water being trapped in icebergs and glaciers!  Us humans use so much water for things we don't need to do! Sometimes we could shorten that shower or reuse that cup or still-clean shirt. So many things use a lot of water that shouldn't need that much! But now, since we've used so much extra that we didn't need to, we don't have enough for drinking and other essentials!  There is so much salt water on Earth, and salt IS good for humans, but large amounts are bad. Since there's so much salt water, what if humans start using it for essential things, making everyone sick? 96% of water on Earth is salt water! There is a huge amount of it and people make bad decisions sometimes so it is definitely possible that people could start drinking salt water. Don't try it, though. It could make you very sick.  Some solutions I think we could do are f...
