The Endangered List Has Over 40,000 Species!

Scientists have estimated that there are 8.7 million species in the world, but they also estimate that by 2050 there will be 7.7 million species. We lose 150-200 species every day. That's the highest that number has been since the dinosaurs went extinct, 65 million years ago. But the number one cause for this extremely high number is humans. We take their habitats and turn them into cities, we kill, eat, and decorate with them, and it's not okay. That number of 150-200 extinctions a day has to shrink by a LOT. Never eat or kill an endangered species. before you eat meat, unless you're a vegetarian of course, check if the animal it belonged to is endangered.

Did you know that the giant panda, tiger, and blue whale are all endangered? And that's not even close to all of them! Those are just three of the most commonly known animals that are endangered. Do you know about the solenodon or the kakapo? They are rare endangered species. The solenodon was endangered by stray dogs and the kakapo was endangered by us taking away their habitats. The endangered list has 41,415 species as I write this! By the time you read this, it is probably even more!

Following this are some possible solutions. I really hope that we can fix this problem! This means a lot to me because I love animals.

  • Spread the word. Let people know the number of endangered animals and raise awareness for them. Do it for the sake of their lives and the Earth's species.
  • Don't remove homes of endangered species. Loss of habitat is the number one reason why most species go extinct. If you know that animals, especially endangered ones, live in an area, do not disturb them and definitely do not remove the habitat.
  • Don't kill animals! I wish that the world would just all go vegetarian! I recently became a vegetarian, and there are so many kinds of vegetable-based meats and I can barely taste the difference!
Thanks for reading my blog! I hope you share this post with everyone you know! This is a very important problem on Earth. Together, we can save the world.
